Have a Question?

Frequently Asked Questions

(F.A.Q.)

How far are you away from Wells Gray Park?

We’re just a few minutes’ drive from the main entrance of the park.

Do we need mosquito repellent in the summer?

Yes, we recommend you use mosquito repellent. Buy local repellents, they work the best. Spray for tropical countries most of the time doesn’t  work for our “local” mosquitos.

When is the best time to visit?

Short answer: Wells Gray Park is AWESOME each time of the year!           Long answer: Every season or month has its own charms & features. The winter months offer great snowshoe, x-country skiing, frozen waterfalls and Moose viewing. In May and June the Humming Birds are visiting our feeders on the deck and Black Bears are likely to spot in our meadows. The summer months July and August are the best months to see the sub-alpine wildflowers on the Trophy Mountains. While the color of the trees are turning into gold, the Salmon are leaping in the Clearwater River from end of August until October.

When does the snow disppear in your area?

Depending, generally around mid-late March or early April the snow will be gone.

Is parking available?

Yes, free parking is available just in front of the B&B and the Ludtke Cottage.

Can we book for one night only?

In the B&B, yes, depending on availability and only in high season. In low season, there is a minimum of 2 nights. We do recommend a minimum 2-3 nights to be able to visit the area and park properly. For our Ludtke cottage, we require a minimum booking of 3 nights year-round.

Do you allow pets in the B&B?

Not in the B&B, but they are more than welcome in our Ludtke Cottage.

Can we cook our own meals in the B&B?

Unfortunately not. Our rooms are not equipped with self-catering facilities, and we can’t allow guests in our kitchen due to safety/liability and food safe regulations. We don’t allow in-house picnics either. Wells Gray Park has great picnic spots, just a few minutes’ drive from us. Although if you book our Ludtke Cottage, it has it’s own full kitchen and is self-contained so cooking for yourself is allowed in the Ludtke cottage only.

If we book the Ludtke Cottage, can we use the amenities from the B&B?

No, these are exclusively for lodge guests only. Also, the cottage is located about 100 meters away from the lodge.

If we book the cottage, what's included?

The cottage has its own full kitchen and is self-contained, so you can cook your own meals there. All cookware, dishware and appliances such as; oven with cooktop, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and kettle are available. Also, all your bedding and towels are provided. But no meals are included.

We also provide a certain amount of fire wood for the wood burning stove during the winter; enough for your whole stay. Extra fire wood can be purchased.

How far are you from Clearwater village and how far is the closest restaurant?

There are no restaurants near the lodge. All restaurants and stores are located in the village of Clearwater. We’re about 30 mins drive from the village and highway #5.
